The credit loan, with the maximum term of 14 years, would be used to invest in construction of Xekaman 1 Hydropower Project in the Lao PDR. According to the disbursement plan, the loan limit for the year 2011 is 300 billion VND.

Xekaman 1 Hydropower Project is located on Xekaman river, including two hydropower plants: Xekaman 1 hydropower plant and Xekaman Xanxay hydropower plant, which is located in Xanxay district, Attapeu province, about 75 km away from Kon Tum province of Vietnam. The total investment capital of the Project is 441.6 million USD and the total installed capacity of both plants is 322 MW.

On March 26, 2011, the Project was officially commenced. Up to present, some basic work items of the Project have been completed such as: access road, 60m3/h concrete mixing plant, housing and working area for personnel of more than 10,000m2, first river closing etc. Some other works have been going on such as the construction road system, occurrence mining, right-bank and left-bank dam pit, OPY station, RCC concrete plant installation …

The conclusion of credit agreement would create favorable conditions for developing the next work items and ensuring the construction schedule of the works of the Project. The Project is expected to generate the Unit 1 at the end of 2014 and put into entire commercial operation during the Quarter I, 2015.
